Of the three to so s65/e46 swaps i've followed, getting the steering to work properly seems to be one of the bigger headaches.

So run the engine management and ABS totally separate? What would I need for the ABS to work? An MSS54?

Not even close. Not for racing.

Yes, run them separate. Standalone harness for the MK60 ABS. Can order from EPIC or others or just make yourself. No need for an MSS54.

Why? Iíve seen mains wear on the S65, it wouldnít be an M if rod bearings werenít an issue, throttle actuators, and power steering pumps. Then the occasional broken valve spring.

Am I missing anything?

Consistent high RPM usage causes the crank girdle to move. Stock rod bearing clearance is too tight. All around, just not as durable as an S54 or an S62. Obviously can be modified to improve.

Ditto.

Here is the Epic harness:

Here is another supplier I've heard good things about one:

Sounds like S62 is the answer to me

More torque too, you can't complain about that.

The S62, in race format, is one of the most dependable, highest performing engines around. Kind of like an LSX motor, but with DOHC and the ability to rev higher. Once one deletes the vanos and adds a Dailey dry sump pan and pump, S62s get really simple.
