Default Dead key fob, or...?

Don't know how to search this as too all the videos I watch to reprogramming does not work.
I went to the field for 7 days and finally got back to my car. Walked up and the key worked fine. Started the car up to get oil running through the engine for a couple minutes. Turned the engine off and pulled the key out, the car was beeping at me as if the lights were still on. Then I try locking the car with the key fob with nothing happening. Eventually I get home and it locks fine using the key fob. Roughly an hour later I head to the car to grab my gear and the key fob seems dead again. So I search stuff that people mention before. Such as 1)check the central locking switch, both buttons, locking button was fine. 2) Tried the reprogramming technique: turn key to position 2, turn back pull out, hold unlock button while pressing locking 3 times. Nothing working
What to do now? Disconnect battery then retry?

Battery going tits up out tend to behave erratically or intermittently. With a dead battery in the fob, it'll never program...do you have a spare key?

I don't. The old spare went out a couple years ago and I tried the diy battery replacement only to fail. But I'll just go to the stealership for once

I'm buying one myself. I suggest one of these two, almost certainly cheaper than the stealership.
