I understand that. Not something to be impressed with though.

The man landed more hits on Floyd in his first ever boxing fight than most career champions have one. But yeah, the chin was the only impressive thing.

With all the money McGregor got for this fight, he would be wise to step away from the ring/octagon and get into acting or something that doesn't completely destroy his body.

The only punch worth anything that McG landed on MW was that one uppercut.

All other punches were entirely ineffective. Getting "hit" with slaps were just MW's way of closing distance.

If MW truly feared the punches he would have taken them more seriously and would have attempted to not get hit as much. I think that you saw this in the first through third or fourth rounds when MW was actually giving McG some respect and trying to not get caught.

McG truly did not know wtf he was doing. I compared this fight to playing pool (billiards) with a five year old. You can be as good as you want and try to set up shots, but the five year old is just going to blast away and you'll have to reset and try again.

Let's not get carried away. Let's remember, Connor had zero pro boxing bouts and fought arguably the best boxer on earth, he won rounds. He was beaten more by fatigue than unbelievable talent or power. He went ten rounds and IMO it was actually stopped slightly early.

Before the fight people said he had no shot, shouldn't be there, wouldn't land a punch. He lost and lost badly, but it wasn't embarrassing. The same loss came to 49 others who were supposedly the best of the best at the time.

I'll say this, it wouldn't go past one round in a cage. I'll put money on that.

^^Mayweather's blueprint for beating Connor was to play defensive and wear him out for the first 8 rounds and then go for the kill in the 9th, which is exactly what happened. Floyd mentioned that UFC rounds are 5 minutes for five rounds, so about 25 minutes total. So after the 8th round, Floyd knew Connor would be gassed.

Floyd even tried to place a bet on himself before the fight for $400k that he'd knock out Connor in the 9th.

So I don't think that Connor was necessarily good enough to hang around for ten rounds, it was Floyd's plan all along. Floyd had the better game plan.

In Connor's defense, he played the fight exactly like he should. The only chance he had was to get a lucky punch, which is why he was coming out strong in the early rounds.

^^^this. Connor had the right game plan, only problem is he entered the ring versus a defensive specialist.

Pacman with his uthordox style was the only threat to MW... that's why Floyd waited Pac out. Prime Paxman vs Mayweather shouldve been one of the best trilogy in boxing but we never saw it.

I hated MW... but you gotta give the guy respect for what he accomplished and did it his way.

I have to agree. Mayweather pretty much confirmed all of this in post fight interviews. McGregor impressed for sure, but Floyd was pretty much in control from beginning to end and it went almost exactly how he wanted it to.
