Default I know this is lame but...Do I have a power loss in my M?

I know this might sound a bit foolish but for some reason, I always thought my M seemed just a tag sluggish when I took it out this summer. Today I happened to come across a friendly 2018 Camaro LT (I think it was LT) driver. Now, the Camaro makes 275HP at the crank and with a full catless exhaust and a tune on my M I should be at a little more than that at the wheels. Now I know the Ms aren't fast in a straight line, but the LT got me by about a car length. I'm not upset that I lost, but more concerned that my vanos my be failing. I don't have any obvious symptoms of it, but maybe I'm just crazy idk.

How dare you street race.

Now that that is out of the way. Are you sure you know how to drive (aside from your own subjective evidence)? Serious question, these cars need to really be in the right gear to realize their potential and when you think you're in the right gear go down another. Best thing to do is get on a dyno, that will show your power curve and give you better insight. No one hear will be able to tell you for sure why you lost a v6 camaro hehe.

A healthy FBO M3 is capable of keeping up with a Z28 Camaro and newer Mustang 5.0., not speaking from experience or anything..

I'm thinking the same thing. If I had a dyno near me id love to throw it on! I live in an area where the car scene is more like a truck scene.

Athens, OH? I've been to OU a handful of times. Can confirm, literally nothing out there. How far is Athens from Cinci or Columbus? I know there is at least a couple dynos in each of those cities.

you're likely to see codes with a vanos fault if that were the case but it's possible. The best way would be to get it on a dyno and really check, could be fuel injectors, fuel filter

Yeah OU! currently, back home/ internship in the Akron area. Athens to Columbus is about an hour. Athens to Cinci is about 2.30hrs. My location to Athens is 3.30hrs. Can a BMW dealership test the vanos using a program that revs the engine, not on a dyno? I forget the program name and remember looking everywhere for it online because I believe it runs a test on the S54 vanos

I changed the fuel filter less than 2k miles ago last summer for the hell of it because they were on sale at ECS. Fuel injectors are a possibility, I do have a CEL but also no cats so I'm assuming that's what throwing the light

Are you a VW owner at heart? Lol

OP: "Gosh, this car isn't street racing as well as I hoped"
Car: "Bro I'm f*cking BROKEN"
OP: "you guys think it's injectors? I bet it's injectors"
Car: [still has CEL, but now with hint of sarcasm]
