Default SMG No Start -- another one

So I drove the car around on errands today (Just bought it) and after my 3rd stop the car wouldn't start. It engaged Neutral and 1st as it should, but when I tried to start it there would only be 1 click. Tried to jump it, but it wasn't the battery.

So I got picked up and came back with my trailer to take it away. Pushed it half way onto the trailer and decided to try it again, fired right up. Fickle beast.

Any thoughts on this one? I searched but couldn't find much with a similar scenario.

Thanks
David

Ahhh. So glad I drive a manual. I’m sure someone with smg knowledge will be able to point you in the right direction.

99% sure this is a starter or other issue. If the gears move before start, there's pretty much nothing in the SMG to keep it from starting.
Next time it happens, tap the starter and see if that changes anything.
If possible, before you use the car again, have the battery terminals and inside of cables wire brushed/cleaned and re-attached; same for cables on starter and under the hood.
Just because people bash smg and are so glad they have a manual tranny doesn't mean every friggen problem on an smg car is related to the tranny. Start with the basics; and no, a jump only sometimes helps with either a bad starter or poor connection problems.

Or someone who understands the basics in how the car starts.

The way I read OP, the car doesn't crank, only clicks.
We'll wait and see what he says.

Lol okay. Why donít you tell that to the OP who directly related his start issue to his smg.

Anyways OP, as you can see, someone with knowledge of smgís and basic knowledge in how the car starts gave you some good advice and the world didnít burn.

I'll give a pass to someone who is a new owner probably having read all the SMG bashing on here. How about you not write posts that add nothing to the problem at hand?

I had the same problem where the car would start fine in the morning and not start after driving around. I got a new starter and everything has been fine.

You can try shaking the car as you crank it and that can get it to work as well.

Also the wire to the starter is connected in a small black box under the hood on the passenger side, check to see if that nut is tight.

Of course you do. But, how about you just keep your crybaby pants at home? Youíre really blowing this out of proportion by taking my comment personally.
