Looks like the inners are Lemforder part number 21424 01.

I’ve found lots of places in Europe where you can buy them, but none in the USA.

Will hit up ECS to see if they can source them, even though they don’t list them. Presumably they have a Lemforder account.

And, yeah, I’m not a fan of the z3 or Z4 racks, either. Too fast imo— makes the car twitchy.

Definitely post up if you find a source. I looked for a while this afternoon and also couldn't find anything as well. I'm in the same boat with newer outters and I'd like to have new e46 inners but I'd like to not buy the entire thing. I will also keep looking

I bought my ZHP rack from rackdoctor, and installed new e36 m3 outer tie rods (lemforder) 35k miles ago. So far so good. I can believe that the inner tie rods are not as good as lemforders, but knock on wood I've had no issues. One of the biggest reason's I went with rackdoctor is so that I can get a rebuilt rack and all I would have to do is screw on new outer tie rods to install.

Whats the service life on inner tie rods supposed to be anyways?

Love my Z3 rack, no complaints about twitchiness or poor turning radius.

I installed a rebuilt Z3 non-M rack from Detroit Axle last year in place of the original rack on my 99 M3. I think it is a slight improvement. I have not tried an E46 yellow/purple rack. I donít think the Z3 rack is twitchy or too aggressive. I would prefer a heavier on center feel, but am not complaining.

My next move will be to install the solid shaft to rack coupler in place of my fairly new rubber coupler.

I also plan to flare my fenders and change to an oval hot side intercooler pipe so so I can lower the car a little with my bigger tires and wheels and turbo piping. I had to raise it back up close to stock years ago after changing from the supercharger. I feel like the front end is a bit light at speed with the near stock ride height. Suspension is all newer and much of it stiffer so itís not suspension related.

Thinking about a splitter. Probably make one to start with so I can see whether I rip it up on driveways before I invest in a fancier one. Might then have to add a high rise wing to match (my 99M3 has the factory low rise wing with brake light).

I’m surprised there’s purple tag enthusiasm from the e36 owners. E46 owners that got the purple tag in the steering rack lottery often upgrade to yellow tag

Possibly some confusion/misinformation spread since the Z4MC also came with a purple tag?
