Really? No issues with mine, except it won't let me re map the steering wheel buttons. It would be nice to be able to re map the hardware buttons on the unit as well as well.
AM reception could be better, also.

Is anyone using the Kenwood or Alpine HUs? All the "stock looking" ones seem to have random issues and I'm starting to care less.

This alpine one with the general lack of buttons feels like it would still look pretty clean

I've decided to go with the Alpine ILX-207, made an appointment for the install next week. Yes, it doesn't look stock but I care more about the function than form factor. And Alpine is a reputable brand with a history that I trust in the car electronics market.

Here's what it'd look like:

If youre buying it in the states, i dont think it will work. Alpine usa version has the back part of the unit attached on the bottom of the screen and the hvac gets in the way.

Did you get any confirmation whether the US units will fit or conflict with the HVAC controls? Do you already have the unit to confirm or will u be getting it through the installer?

Nope this will be my first time. I usually install radios myself in my past cars but they were really easy compared to the BMW units.
