Default Blackstone results not good

87k miles, second owner, average ~6k mile oil change internal its entire life. Lots of redlining, but also lots of super short drives.

Iron: 24 (10 avg)
Copper: 36 (8 avg)
Lead: 49 (5 avg)

Blackstone is concerned. They recommend checking again at 4k miles.

Is this a "stop driving immediately and have the rod bearings replaced" scenario?

Any input welcomed.

Thanks

Edit: motor runs like a raped ape. Definitely on the "strong" side of the spectrum - this is my 5th 46M and it's a fast one. Also zero funky noises ever, cold, hot, never.

Replace them. Either way you know they’re coming up. Better safe

My experience with having high amounts of lead and copper was really odd. I did a couple tests and it never got better, so I had the rod bearings replaced. After taking a look at the old bearings, there really wasn’t much damage at all, nothing like any pictures you see. It kinda had me lost faith in taking a oil analysis.

your rod bearings are going, get them taken care of in the near future. i don't know its a stop driving immediately but i wouldn't be bringing it to track events or hard redlineing it over and over again until this is sorted.

Is this your first analysis or have you done them before? If done before, what were the numbers then?

I honestly don't think this is a stop driving immediately scenario, but if the metals are similar in the next one after 4K miles, I would replace them. Just for peace of mind. Its a $1500 vs new engine.

You mention a lot of short drives - how was your oil viscosity and flashpoint? Was it good/adequate for 10w60 after 6K? Any fuel in the sample? Which oil did you run?

It's tough Eric because we've been taught from early on to do the rod bearings, especially with a report like that. Like Good said though, I've seen and heard of a few instances where reports were bad, but there was plenty life yet.

I think it's obvious that you need to do the bearings man.

Just do the bearings bud and get them out of the way. Better safe than sorry.

Wanted to add that you'd really want to see a pattern before making assumptions. Ideally.

Yeah tough to say, report could be bad. If you take it "easy" next 4k miles before the next oil analysis, I would expect the numbers to come down by nature of taking it easier and shorter interval, so that report would not give me much piece of mind. At your mileage (87k), I'd gear up for doing them.
