Congratulations! Drive it and enjoy it in good health!

Funny you tossed the C63; I have a 16 C63S and I have absolute mixed feelings about it. It's not a real performance/track car despite what the magazines want you to think. I call it a highway domination car. I enjoy it for what it is and the fact it has a usable back seat for my kid and a trunk.

Let us know how you like the F experience.

Hey trip- I had a good run w amg. The e36 changed the game for me.
While very powerful the c63 507 ed did not feel controllable and tossable...

also had a 2015 C63S sedan (TT) for a few months, but it suffered 1st yr build quality issues. It was a rocket! but the squeaking dash, and suspension, and falling off trim drove me away.
I'm too scared the AMG GTS will suffer the same issues.
I was really wanting an amg gts... but im addicted to analog 3 pedal cars now.

.....

The E36 just shines here in hill country, north of san antonio...... most roads are 40-55mph, but they turn/twist/elev changes sim to cota... very satisfying.
I've put over 7k miles on the E36 in the past year....... and it just runs better and better every month.

The step change in perf came from the last round of mods:
B50 intake, larger inj, larger MAS, elim tc tb, custom tune...... that coupled with the already installed: lt headers, dinan catback, ported dinan tb, elec fan, really made this pkg run.

When I got it... it was a dog....would not spin tires in water....... lol.....
issues were:
lt headers were clamped to the mid pipe with a gaping leak, and no back pressure,
steering rack was leaking/wornout,
pcv system had massive air leak,
spark plugs were fouled,
throttle was only going 70% due to bad accel pedal and bushings,
......

Night and day what a properly sorted E36 car will do with proper sorting.........

I plan to add a bolt-in cage, racing seats, and sticky tires, and hit some DE's very soon......

Not bad, but lots of work done to it. Though, for $32-33K, could be a good buy.

IMO a high mileage E30 M3 isn't something to be scared of, assuming it's been cared for which it probably has been. You'll probably still end up somewhere around the 45-50k mark depending on how particular you are about things.

Agree with your assessment of the new C class. Mine is a PITA with squeaks and rattles. Pano roof is hit or miss if it is going to rattle. In the winter the dash creaks. For the most part it has settled down. I dislike MB dealers so I avoid going to them as much as possible (all maintenance done elsewhere). I think the transmission is lazy even in race mode and does not fully respond to inputs the way PDK did for me. I am amazed with summer gas I can get 27.5mpg with a 500+hp V8 cruising at 85mph.

My E36 is an almost complete race car, so I get my driving fun out of there. I'm super happy with how my car turned out, except it cost me a fortune. I love passing 911s and other high end cars on track. The balance, etc. is incredible and the car is predictable.

Oddly enough, I also picked up a CPO 228i "beater" for my wife to commute in and we both absolutely love the car. Somehow we ended up with the track-package special, LOL! (manual transmission, M-sport package, manual seats, no moonroof, no nav, no anything that adds weight). The car is the spiritual successor to the E36 and weighs in just over 3000lbs. It can move too...
