So, I still have my E46 M3 but I am looking for an E92, preferable with a Sport Package.
I am targeting cars with 25-40K miles. What should I be looking for? Any recommendations on extended warranty? Thanks Matt |

ZCP, carbon fiber roof, manual, cloth seats, no navi
![]() oh wait this is your thread... EDIT: Just make sure to buy the owner and not the car /thread. Shouldn't need an extended warranty imo.

I would change the rod bearings ASAP. $1000 parts, 8 hours labor. Throttle actuators will fail eventually. There are 2, at $600 each plus 2 hours labor. Other tham those things the cars are very reliable.

Take it to a dealer (not the one that is trying to sell it) and have them do a pre-purchase inspection, usually around $100-150. They will tell you everything they can find wrong with it, they have nothing to hold back if its not their own car to sell. Tell them to check everything over, oil leaks, suspension, signs of body work, etc, and also run fault codes
We do a bunch of those at my work and it sometimes helps as a negotiating point as well, if they find anything. Good luck! |

Ok, I will definitely have the car inspected.
Unfortunately, the local BMW dealer will not do any pre buy inspections so I am out of luck on that one. There are some decent independent shops around that I used in the past. |

That's odd that a dealership won't do an inspection. You're paying them, they're in business to make money. I'd think in your area, there are lots of dealership options. Too bad you're not closer, I'd sell you mine.
