Default Wiring in SMG to Manual Clutch switch factory style

I am working with a donor car to swap my 2002 M3 from SMG to manual. My goal is to wire everything in by just plugging in all the wires into the correct connects. So everything looks just like it come from factory.

My only problem is that the donor is year 2004 build. I see that everyone has a light blue wire where I have a grey wire. Can anyone check if the factory wire on the clutch switch was grey?

Clutch switch are separated by years "up to 2001_03" and "as of 2001_03". From the looks of it, both have gray wire coming out of the clutch switch (pin 2 on connector X11143 or X13635 depending on the year) going to pin 7 of connector X6011 which eventually goes to the gear recognition switch.

Thanks. Looks like this will work. My M3 is 2001_07 build, I am guessing the very early models had some difference. I will be getting the correct transmission wiring (p/n 12517831756) which will have the gear switch recognition plug and wiring.

The grey wire will be pinned to pin 7 on a connecter in the engine bay. I checked, SMG models have an empty spot in that pin number. Manual models(my donor car) has the grey wire from clutch switch pinned into it.

If everything goes well, I will make a DIY thread for people that want to do the same thing. Bit of a pain to snake all the wires correctly but I hope it will be worth it.

You could just buy the transmission harness for $230

I will be buying it. You still need to wire in the clutch switch. Clutch switch is not on the transmission wiring.

Took 3 hours but I wired everything in factory style, pulled all the wires through the loom as they should go and pinned them in.

Manual transmission wiring should be installed Friday and I have an appointment to reprogram all the modules on Thursday, July 14th. I will update the thread with the results.

Hey Sorry for reviving an old post, but did you end up soldering Pin 2 of the clutch switch to the grey wire leading to PIN 7 of the X6011 plug? (the grey wire)?
