Okay, cleaned out the MAF sensor real good with some more brake cleaner... No issues with using that stuff as it leaves no residue. MAF cleaner is the same thing and I keep brake cleaner around all the time.

I also pulled apart all the intake tract going to the airbox and cleaned it out thoroughly, as well as cleaned out the whole air box. Put in a brand new BMW factory panel filter, new hose clamps and cleaned out the elbow. No leaks there, and everything is tight and clean.

Figured I'd see what that did... Car tried to stall on me twice last night! I cought it with my right foot, but the problem is still there. But, funny, my "Service Engine Soon" light came on as well.

Could this just be an 'oil change indicator', or does this mean I'm throwing a code?

Wish I knew someone around here with the GT1 software.

I have the exact same problem and I have a K&N typhoon CAI. When I put the OEM air box back in, all problems were solved. So no need to worry, it's just your CAI.

Either live with it like me, or switch back to OEM lol

Me too, changed my MAF but same issues. Happens with AC or without. It stalls only on downhill or coming to a stop at a parking garage. At lights and in traffic it dips to about 400-500RPM and stays there until the engine catches itself.

start with easy stuff... bad tank of gas, fuel filter dirty, clean or find a friend and swap maff, idle control valve.. do that and see if that works, you could even look at replacing gas cap.. fuel pump either works or doesn't.. it would cut on you at any time not just at idle. And never use brake cleaner on maf starting now. Its not the same stuff.

in order

open bonnet
check if air intake elbow and filter holder are tight and secure
clean MAF Sensor with cleaner
check/replace air filter

I had the same problem - and the reason was my air intake fell off and the MAF was exposed.

My fuel filter was changed less than 5k miles ago. Changed my MAF recently. I think I need to check my ICV.

I have a 6mt but I'll get that checked I still think I'm running on the original battery.

Air filter was replaced 10k miles ago and everything is secure. I need to check my ICV.

Assuming the ICV is clean or has no issue with it, what's the next priority of components to check or that could be responsible for the idle drop?

use the on dash computer to monitor the voltage. You can get real time while you drive. I don't think this is your issue, but it's a real easy test.
