Thanks!

Yes I think it's a good deal at $1000 especially for someone who's able to weld it by himself. Even if shipping is kinda expensive on big items it's still worth it if you have to pay someone to do the job.

Sorry but I never worked with Chromoly before.

But why do you want that material? Chromoly isn't lighter than DOM in the same size. Usually people will use Chromoly because it's a stiffer material so they can use tubing with smaller wall.

But according to most rule books, a car between 2500 and 3000lbs (where almost every E46 M3 track car should be) will have to use 1.5"x0.120" or 1.75"x0.095" DOM/Chromoly/seamless. So you will use the same size tubing.

Also, I am interest to know what you would do differently? If you have pictures, it would be even better!

BTW if you are looking to get my roll bar to install into your E46 M3 with s62 swap, I will be really proud to have contributed to this amazing build

You're absolutely right regarding general weights. The real reason I asked about chromoly is the guy building my exhaust is supposed to be bending me a main hoop from chromoly. That I would then take and make the remaining pieces of the half cage myself. I just don't have the machines for bending but do have a decent notcher. I saw this and figured it would take a lot of work off my plate and it's killer looking work to boot.

In regards to the rules though the only tubes that have to meet those specifications are the required sections per the rules. Non required sections like the subframe x, rear strut bar and tubing from the main hoop to the subframe tie ins could be a smaller tubing size. Providing the same stiffness at less weight. Marginal weight savings at best but still something.

Here is a pic of the rear strut tower I would like to do. Your tower reinforcements plates would work I just wouldn't want the horizontal strut tower or the downward diagonals. It's a design pretty much everyone uses but I've had my eyes on this for some time. Shoot if you could make me something like this in a kit that would be less work for me and all I would have to do is burn rod.

This is absolutely for the S62 car. I've put nothing but the best in that car and this is a quality piece, you should for sure be proud. Shoot me a message with shipping to 80015 and we can talk more through pm or maybe a phone call.

Hey Gtfour, have you tested the space in the back to see if you are able to fit a full set of wheels/tires back there somehow?

I actually did my first E46 M3 race car with a similar design so it's definitely something I can do

I will send you a pm
