Impressive, but I don't have steering wheel controls (ZCP) so any head unit I get needs a volume knob and physical buttons.

They do make that, as well:

I agree - I think Apple Carplay at this point is a must have. I've got one on order for my Eonon unit, but it's a dongle (wired).

Frankly, i'm good with that but I wouldn't drop bucks on another aftermarket unit unless it came with carplay built in and wireless.

Yeah, I've got plug in carplay in the M3 with the Avin. It's so much better than anything else that it's the only criteria I have going forward-- but I want it wireless, so I don't have to plug in!

So, aesthetically, I'm still more interested in the Avant 3, but if this unit provides a significantly better user experience due to speed, I may be willing to forgo OE nav looks and save a bundle.

Is the Avant 3 slow/buggy enough that this is a no brainer option if it works as it should and I'm not 100% married to OE nav aesthetics (although i do definitely prefer it)?

The Avin doesn't feel any slower to me than this unit looks in the video.

I ordered it today off ebay for $275 total.
Let's see how bad the glare is.

Another review. Apparently itís not so good with iPhone users for music/bluetooth

Not sure how many versions of this thing they make, but the unit in this second video review was a Quad-core Android 7.1 vs the Octo-core v8.1 in the original post.
