Like the title says my timing chain tensioner came loose during or right after a track day. The result was a huge oil leak and smell of burning oil.
Did that happened to anyone? My car has 97K miles. My tensioner is fine and the car is now running perfect with no leak but I was just asking myself if I was the only one to experiment this situation... |

I don't understand. Are you sure you mean the tensioner? If it came loose, I would expect clattering, poor running, possibly catastrophic engine damage... I wouldn't expect it to go away by itself?

sounds like a vanos failure. check your vanos exhaust gear closely to see if one of the prongs sheered off and ran through the timing chain

Bumping an old thread, but I just discovered this too. Not a massive oil leak, but a dribble. Just did an inspection 2 and my exhaust hub is fine. Hmm...
