Default My E36 M3 Convertible is totalled, what next?

I was in a relatively small accident but the insurance is going to total the car. I love that car!! but I don't really want a rebuilt title and it will cost more than it's worth to rebuild it.

I really like the look of the 2003, but I know nothing of the engines. Can you guys point me in the right direction? I know I would like something comparable to the one I had or better. I think I may have put this in the wrong board... I can't afford a 2008 or newer, I'm a full time student.

How about a 2003-04 vert or hardtop? Those are nice and decently priced.
