This is a 2017 (which got the battery capacity increased by 50% over the previous years), and we got it for <$20,000 with 23,000 miles on it and with a CPO warranty.

It's main role will to be absorb all the baby disgustingness/protect the other cars. It's cheap enough that, as long as we drive it, the money we would have spent on gas covers the cost of the car-- so it's effectively free.

It also should require virtually no maintenance, since it has no parts.

It's still under BMW free maintenance, but all that covers on the i3 is brake fluid (the only fluid in the car) and cabin air filters (the only filter in the car)

With 120 miles of range, we won't be taking it on any road trips-- but that's more than we need for 99% of DD requirements. If we're going somewhere further away, we'll still have plenty of ICE cars to choose from (wagon being the go to if the kid is coming along).

... and it's actually kind of fun to drive. Being super light, super stiff, very low COG, and instant throttle response, gives it a sort of a hot hatch kind of fun. At least, that was my take from the 3 of them that I've test driven.

We'll see how I feel about it in a couple months time. Certainly this is a big change of pace.

I test drove an i3 that got traded into the dealership I worked at and I loved it. It was surprisingly fun to drive. It would be a great daily driver/commuter car. A second car isn't in the cards for me right now, but if it was, an i3 would be high on my list. I'm curious to hear your thoughts after a few months of ownership.

No pics yet, as it's getting shipped here from Florida. M3F member Dave B did a PPI for me (really, being a CPO, what I was concerned with was any trace of air freshener or previous smoker ownership in the car).

It should be arriving here on Friday.

Nice pick-up Ian, I'll be interested to hear what it's like to live with once you guys have had time to put miles on it.
