rented one of these in Germany and drove 3000kms in 2 days on the autobahn and beyond. I thought it was an absolutely marvelous car. I think mine was a hybrid or some shit. No clue what the engine was but it was a great place to spend a couple of days - car was fast, comfy, quiet, economical, and actually drove really well. Steering exceeded my expectations and much better than the F10 M5 I drove earlier, which I thought was complete shit. I was never into these barges but I really missed it when I got back, especially after driving my G class on the highway for a few miles.

Having never sat in this BMW or the equivalent Audi, I'd choose the Audi.

S klasse not an option? It's the best car in the segment. I like the 7 but I'd have a hard time choosing one over an S.

^^^. I did the same thing last year. Thought it would be fun to rent it from Munich to Heidelberg. It was a fun drive. Sixt service sucked. While in Munich, I also rented the i8 from the BMW Center, which was fun to take to random little villages in Bavaria. People there don’t love outsiders but I was able to still score a pretzel.

750 was a comfortable place to be. Devoured the autobahn. Mine was a standard V8 twin turbo (450-ish hp). I like all the tech. It felt big for German city roads. Drove fine. I didn’t get super exhausted going into the left lane for 20-30 minutes at a time during no limit zones.

HOWEVER, I feel that this is one area where MB S class excels. That would be the first place I go to. Seats alone are so comfortable. Looks much sharper. Distant second would be the Audi S8. S8 also looks better, interior is nicer. And close after that the 7. It’s fine. I just think there are better options.

oh nice! yeah i rented from Sixt also in Munich when I reserved an M2 and showed up to them telling me they were all rented out. I was pretty disappointed but just decided to take the most comfy thing they had. Drove to Amsterdam and never got tired after 8 hours straight driving. Left lane the whole time basically at about 220 km/h.

I would definitely take an S Class over it too. The Audi is ok but I didnt get the sense it was as sharp as the others. Trunk is beyond tiny too which I dont understand.

Uglier than the car it replaced, inferior in nearly all aspects to its competition.

Really, why would you look any further than the S-class in this segment? Unless you're one of our resident MBZ haters.

^ I'd take an A8 for the interior alone. I've grown really tired of MB's interior designs.

Yep I picked it up in Munich too. At that train station.
Sixt made me wait for hours to get the car. And had a crap attitude about adding insurance. Just bad attitude overall during drop off. Zero ****s on trying to help.

In conclusion. OP Get an S class. Or S8.
