DMS, would you mind sharing why you picked the R8+ over some other cars like the .2GT3, 570S, or Huracan?

I haven't driven the R8, but it always seemed like the most usable/daily of the bunch. Given what else is in your garage I'm curious why you didn't go with something more weekend focused.

Good question. The reason I did not consider a Lambo or Mclaren is that there are zero dealers or service in my area. My friend who is a car collector has to ship all of his McLarens two states over whenever they need anything. That's not something I wanted to do.

I did look and drive the Porsche TT but I liked the R8 better. It felt more alive and visually the R8 wins hands down to my eyes. If I was more of a track guy I may have picked up a GT3 but I'm lucky to get to the track once a year.

I saw the Audi R8 as an all around performer with great build quality, semi-exotic, fast, fun to drive and I can get service at the same place my neighbor takes his A4.

Mclarens are POS cars as far as quality.....
The .2 GT3 is not in the same league...
The Huracan: DMS has way too much taste and class to buy a Lambo version of the same car

Welcome back!

...but curious into how you figure a .2 GT3 isn't in the same league? I suppose the Turbo S is a more suitable rival but a .2 GT3 is a better performer.

And it's based on a high $80k car that you see many times a day. Two different cars for sure, but the R8 seems more upscale/exotic.

Default WasUp M3F (Ekaru V10 Edition)

Personally I think the R8 is flashier than a non RS GT3, and the GT3 is still similar in straight line performance to the V10 despite its HP deficit (the .2 engine is pretty underrated).

Still not seeing how it’s not in the same “league” but the Turbo S is a better matched comparison as it’s more of a comfy grand tourer - and I think the R8 is the more desirable car in that regard.
