Default Every CA guy trying to get stock exhaust

I'm sure everyone has heard about California newest anti-car movement. A modified exhaust is now a mandatory 1k ticket and a visit to the state ref (which does full inspection on the car and deems it undriveable until EVERY non legal mod if fixed). Since this started, every craigslist and Facebook post is bmw guys trading their exhaust setups for stock. Its so sad to see

Lol @ CA

Stock exhaust will be gold! Can you get away with a modified OE exhaust?

If it's loud, they write you up and let the state ref deal with you (I dont think appearance means much to them, only the tone). The state ref are older nazi-like mechanics (who some know our platforms well) check every single exhaust component (often actually removing parts to see what's behind this or that). They also run your car hooked up to a computer for half an hour to make sure you have no codes or a CEL pops up. If you don't pass, they deem your car un-road worthy (automatic tow if pulled over) until you schedule another visit for re-inspection.

They run your car and check for codes on the side of the road? What if you’re out of state?

They write you a ticket on the side of the road and then you have to make an appointment to go to the ref which is held at community collegs auto shops. Out of state car, probably same fate. Out state car and license (student) then should be good. But that's just a guess. Highway patrol has always sent people to the ref, they'll ask you to pop your hood if they think it's illegal and state ref your ass. But previously with exhaust, they write you a ticket, you have a cop buddy sign ticket off (that violation was corrected with stock exhaust ) and pay 10 bucks. Now it's a mandatory grand fine and inspection by the CA state ref .

That is not what is happening. There are very modest noise pollution laws in place that "enthusiasts" have abused the **** out of with straight pipes and cat deletes. They are not cracking down on aftermarket exhausts, they are cracking down on the shit heads who deserve it. Motorcycle owners have got away with it long enough, "car guys" played along with the, if they can, why can't I. Hearing your car 2 miles away is not cool. Enough is enough.

Personally, I'm all for this provided those that are cited actually deserve it.
