For many years I have read numerous threads about which fan options are available for our cars with basically 2 main contenders that fit our cars.
Spal 30102049 puller curved blade 19amp (quiet) depth 3.45 in Spal 30102120 puller straight blade 22.5 amp (loud) depth 3.45 in So I have decided to go with the quiet option the Spal 2049 fan at the time, which works as many people do run this fan, but for me personally on hot track days the temp would be higher than I would like at around 200-205F and I would have to back off for the temp to drop to normal range. So I was debating about the Spal 30102082 Paddle blade 24 amp (most powerful sealed fan) depth 3.74 in, most people said it would not fit because it is thicker and it would hit the belts or water pump. I took some preliminary measurements and it did not compute to me what other have been saying. So I took a chance and decided to upgrade from Spal 30102049 try to fit Spal 30102082 paddle blade (quiet) Got it here https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...UAAOSwm4paltxV Best price. I have great news it fits no problem with our stock radiators and fan mounts from N15 Design which I have used prior with the Spal 2049 fan, no modification necessary bolts right up to the mounts. Even though the fan is thicker the fan motor actually sits little higher compared to the the 2049 fan from the ac belts allowing to have more than enough clearance for trouble free operation (see pictures I tired my best with iphone to demonstrate forgive me for quality) I would say at least 10mm of clearance if not more. Since I have installed it I have been to Lime Rock at about 86f wheather and I can truly say this fan is much stronger than 2049 fan was using before. I am running the fan from Aux controller box at the stock ecu values which are kind of high because fan kick in at 80% at 185f and 100% at 195f which is high in the future Im going to change the values to Z4m so it kicks in at lower 100% at 185F which will improve cooling even more. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For comparison between these 3 fans. At static pressure mmH2O = cfm (which is what you look for in a fan because the total output is always at measured at 0 which is not really relevant in this case because this being installed in car radiator is pretty much always subjected to static pressure unless you have the car parked and not moving at all. The higher mmH20 and cfm the better) at 20 mmH2O Spal 2049 putting out 389 cfm at 20.6 amp Spal 2021 putting out 702 cfm at 19.5 amp Spal 2082 putting out 991 cfm at 24amp at 25 mmH20 2049 putting out 0 cfm at 17.7 amp 2021 putting out 378 cfm at 19.5 amp 2082 putting out 596 cfm at 23.6 amp at 30 mmH2O 2049 putting out 0 2021 putting out 0 at 19.2 amp draw 2082 putting out 384 at 23.8 amp draw even at 35 mmH20 2082 still putting out not much but 100cfm still better than the other 2 fans which is 0. Credit for the info to the Spal usa website. You can clearly see that the Spal 2082 outperforms the other 2 options that most people are using and now I can confirm this from my personal experience now because IT DOES FIT!!!! ( stock radiator at least) Hope this helps for anyone debating on the fan conversion and improving your cooling options.

I think a SPAL fan is a no brainer upgrade for a car that sees track time.
I have a straight blade fan and it makes a significant impact on outlet temps. If I had to do it again, I’d mount mine offset so it’s easier to work on the belts and accessories. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Spal 2082 have to be mounted in offset for it to fit other wise it will not clear the pump, forgot to mention that.

I have the thinner version of the fan. I think I paid $80 for it a couple of years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Subbed. Now that my Airbox is installed, time to get my clutch fan out ASAP!
Any reasons NOT to go with the Spal 30102082 for a daily driven build? How loud is it compared to the others you ran? I assume it's relatively similar in volume and hopefully not too loud since it's a curved blade. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

Ive ran them on track cars or daily drivers with no issues - always offset them and mount them on spal brackets mounted to the edges of the radiator vs using those dumb zip tie things.

You don’t want the straight blade fan if you want quiet.
Not unless you like a constant humming sound. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
