Default HELP - Wiring for Powering CYHY (Hidden) Dash Cam

Okay... now before anyone jumps on and says to use the UGDO or the Phone Cradle wiring... I have searched for weeks and my entire interior is in pieces and I am unable to find these harnesses... I have a Euro E46 M3 (originally UK delivered early 03 model) so maybe I don't have these... well I definitely don't, I have looked and they are not there... All you US guys seem to have them but which would be super handy for a job like this haha.

Now I need a constant power source, a switched power source and a ground (the ground is easy... I am dumb, but not that dumb haha)... I have a few unused connectors and loose wires I would like to use if possible but I need help identifying their capacity...
I would prefer to use wires that power things I am no longer using then taping new fuses into the fuse box as I don't really like leaving redundant wiring... I'd rather re-purpose it... Cig Lighter has already been connected to a port in the trunk to power the air-pump if needed so that wiring is taken...

I have / am demolishing my ashtray for a switch panel so I would like to use the power and ground left over from this... it is the Grey/Red wire and brown ground (obviously) is anyone aware of what the capacity of this wire is approximately and if it is constant or switched?

Now when pulling apart my dash, when I got to the OBD-II port there is a loose Black/Red (black wire with red strip) just hanging there with an exposed end... not connected into the OBD-II port but definitely part of the wire bundle that goes to it and nothing else... Does anybody know what this wire is? My OBD-II port worked before so I am not sure what it is for... but if it's not needed for anything and it provides a constant/switched power opposite to the ashtray power then I would like to tie-into it... if its required for something then i would like to fix it... obviously...

If anyone knows anything about either of these wires I am talking about or has any other ideas outside of the standard UGDO and Phone Cradle options to tie-in this camera then help would be most appreciated... sarcasm/criticism humbly accepted

Default Re: HELP - Wiring for Powering CYHY (Hidden) Dash Cam

Apologies and update... the black wire with the red stripe is a random wire a previous owner has tapped into the Brown/Black wire on the OBD-II port... I ripped it off and put a Posi-Tap over the damaged wire to at least hold it together a bit better so it can't ground on anything for the moment...

So I guess I'm just left with tapping into the ashtray light wiring and then finding either a switched or constant power for the this wire depending on if the ashtray light is constant or switched... if anyone knows?

Default Re: HELP - Wiring for Powering CYHY (Hidden) Dash Cam

I have also realised the stupidity of wanting to tap into the ashtray light power as it will be controlled by the LCM...

I think I have decided the best way for me will be to tap off the constant and switched power to the HU as I really want them both to act in the same way...

So if everyone could ignore the above (or abuse me for the stupidity... either way haha) and let me know what wire colours to look for for constant and switched power to the HU... Actually quickly reading I think the Purple/White is switched and Red/Green is constant... please correct me if I am wrong?

The Cam only needs 180mA so I'm assuming tapping into the HU wiring should be okay as this will put it in Parallel so it should get the same 12v but only draw the Amps it needs which is minimal so shouldn't impact the Fuse break point for the HU much?...

I assume you can follow DIY for radar detectors since it also requires a power source and is mounted near the rear view mirror.

That is utilising the Homelink (Universal Garage Door Remote Opener) wiring... which as I stated before... my car does not have... It seems after trawling across posts from M3Forum (US) and M3Cutters (UK) that only the US guys got the Homelink wiring as standard... same as the phone cradle wiring for that matter... the Homelink and Phone Cradle wiring only seem to be there if your car was optioned for them in the UK and my car was originally imported from the UK (although I imagine an Australian delivered model would have been similar anyway)... so although that DIY and many other like it are very good and actually perfect for idiots (when it comes to wiring or anything electrical) like me... I cannot follow it as I don't have the pre-requisite wiring required.
