Default Future price on 08 E90 M3

What do you guys think? Around this time a year from now, how much will an 08 E90 or even E92 cost? Right now the average I've seen are around 40k-50k range (2008). I'm looking to buy an E46, but there seems to be a lot of problems with them so I figured I might go for E9x... Thanks!

My crystal ball is a little hazy but figure for a 3 year old car, you're probably looking at an average somewhere in the low 40's for a CPO, high 30's for a private party sale.

I would say about mid to high 40's cpo and low 40's private party. M3's hold their value pretty well. Low mileage ~2005 e46 m3's are selling in the high 30's still.

Where are you seeing a 5 year old M3 go for the high 30's? Might be a market difference. Around me, 2005's are running in the low 30's/high 20's and 2006's are mid-30's/low 30's.

2006 E46 M3's are selling in the mid to high 30's all day long! Just check Autotrader.com and see for yourself. An M3 is a "somewhat" special car, not a regular 330Ci, so one can't think of M3 depreciation based on how let's say a Camry would depreciate. Just my .02

Correct. I bought my 06 ZCP for mid 20's from a dealer.

The market is very soft for high performance cars right now. 99% of the population perceives the M3 as a simple hopped up 3-series. Most wouldn't pay the nearly 200% premium for one so the prices are dropping rapidly.

The fate of the E90/92 will really depend on what comes out next. If BMW hits it out of the park (like they usually do with their M-cars!!) it makes the previous generation fall a lot quicker.

They will be high 30's or low 40's for an 08. Just wait till all the lease cars come off. Most lease buyouts are 36-40...

btw Why would you say the M3 E46 is unreliable? It was edmunds most reliable sports car...

+1 to this. You can either pay depreciation up front, or repairs when they break, which really isnt all that bad for a high strung german car, IMO. Given the cost at the door, I prefer to self insure with an older vehicle.
