Question E46 M3 being Forgotten...

Overview: I have two kids I adore (2 year old and 5 month old), but lately I'm spending so much time with them I never touch my M3.

I'm constantly having a thought in my head about keeping my LSB M3 and just letting it sit in the garage vs. selling it and putting the proceeds into the market to gain over time and forget about it.

Has anyone else ever had this thought with kids or other personal life happenings??

Such a hard choice.

This. Kids are a waste of time and money.

Yep. Bought my car about 2.5 years ago and have put on about 4k miles in that time (it's not my daily). I struggle with keeping it or not for that reason. Between kids, wife, house, job, other hobbies, etc I don't drive it as much as I want to.

I'm in the same boat. I bought mine this year as an early mid life crisis treat to myself. Since the arrival of the kid, all I do is maintenance on the car and look at it.

I was so blindly unprepared for the responsibility and realities of having a child

Don't despair. You life will get (somewhat) back to normal in 20 years.

Keep the car for a couple years and then sell.

If you don't enjoy the car enough to find 30 minutes once or twice a week to drive it, then yes, sell it.

I'll be starting a family soon. I will continue to drive 3-4k a year in the M.

I have a 3.5 y/o daughter and a 1 y/o son, so I get the conundrum. The 3.5 y/o loves going to car shows/cars and coffee with me so I just picked up the m3 for that duty. We used to head out there in my e55 wagon, but it was retired from daily driver status and replaced with an appliance SUV...

Guess it depends what you're looking for... I love the moments with my daughter going to car shows, windows down, radio up... those experiences are worth way more than $20k sitting in my brokerage account.
