Default Re: Passing OBD inspection with catless headers

I had the stock headers on my car when I bought it, it had just passed a sniffer test in PA and when I brought it to NY it failed the OBDII for cat efficiency. Once the cats lose 5% efficiency they throw the code, but probably have a lot more safety margin built in than that, which is why the emissions coming out the tailpipe passed the sniffer. My point is, if you buy some used cats to weld in, make sure they don't have too many miles on them or you may end up doing it again if they lose efficiency down the road. If you want a set of stock headers to pass a visual, and want to use software to take care of the codes I can send you my old headers for free if you cover shipping. You could gut the cats if you wanted the added flow if you're using software anyway.
