Wow. Best I can get 'round these parts is 2.85 right now, although my Audi was 1.6 a few years back from the same place.

Sorry I haven't updated earlier... The car arrived, looks good and is in pretty much the shape I expected! Honestly the only cosmetic things that surprised me a little are some yellow and grimey tail lights, and some pitting on the headlights. Annoying, but not the end of the world. I still feel like I got a good deal. I guess that's partly still TBD though LOL. I haven't had that much time to drive it yet, and I haven't had ANY time to work on it yet.

The battery was dead upon arrival, and after jumping the car and driving it for a while, I noticed right away that the battery light comes on under hard acceleration. I believe this is likely the alternator or the battery itself, (thoughts?) but I'm trying to get past CA smog before I swap those out. I failed once because the catalyst sensors weren't ready. The drive cycle on these cars is kind of a pain in the ass... I have temporary tags so I've put on about 100~ miles since the last time I tried smog. Gonna plug in my scan tool and see if it will tell me if the sensors are ready or not.

Other than that, it will need tires ASAP (considering getting ZCP wheels as well) and there's a little ticking noise coming from the front brakes or suspension, TBH I don't really know off hand what that might be but it doesn't feel like anything major is wrong. So I'm gonna have to investigate that.

Next weekend I'm planning on going over the car top to bottom with my buddy Marc (real expert on these cars, this is his wagon: https://jalopnik.com/an-e46-m3-wagon...bmw-1807152574 ) so hopefully we can get a list started and get going on this sucker. The previous owner actually sent me a pretty good list of receipts and a log showing what was done at what mileage, so that's nice. Big points are subframe done, VANOS done, and rod bearings done under recall at some point when the previous-previous owner had the car.

I'm hoping to have the E46 fairly presentable by end of the month once work settles down a bit. I also have a lot of catching up to do on my E36 lol

plastic polish and a buffer will make the tail lights look brand spanking new again

Wanted to close loop on this. Ended up getting the 1.99% rate and got an additional .25 off that rate with direct deposit... sweet deal if you ask me

definitely take a look at your battery. sounds like it isn't secure. if not that, then check the engine ground straps and the engine mounts. loose/bad ground strap plus broken engine mount? alternators if they fail the battery light would be on all the time.

Default Buying a car long distance...

I dunno? I think it is because I asked... This was the first time I refinance anything, and only did it because I donít have a Mortgage and want to keep my credit record healthy.

As I mentioned before, I had received an offer on the mail valid until 11/29 that showed 1.74% on new vehicles - When I opened my account they did a credit check and my score was high enough, they said I did had pre-approval.

I simply called and asked what was needed to submit, then sent pictures of Bill of Sale, Title and Registration. Swung by later the same week to get the check and sign paperwork...

I believe the final rate is 1.75
