Default “Just a couple things” 2001 LSB

Title is inspired by something I said to a friend when I first purchased the car. Of course at that point I thought that just a set of wheels, some decent coilovers, and an exhaust would make me happy. It’s gone further and further from there, every time I tell him about my next mod he reminds me of what I said! “Just a couple things.”
The car’s first bath in my possession, August 2015.
After

It was bone stock, 6-speed, and about 64k miles. In my opinion it had been slightly neglected in the years prior to my ownership. Just about every rubber piece had to be replaced and the paint had some weak spots. Overall though - a good condition car.
First two sets of coilovers I tried (picture taken when I was swapping from H&R to the FA). The H&R were just terrible. Awful ride quality and still managed to feel like it had too soft of spring in hard cornering. Was actually a big fan of the FA but went another direction recently.

Wheels were in bad condition so next step was powder coating the wheels black. In hindsight I would’ve done a silver but it looked good for awhile. Picture taken near the tail of the dragon. She doesn’t mind getting dirty!

More coming!

Corner balancing! Honestly didn’t change much feel wise. At the time I wasn’t tracking the car so it was more for fun. Don’t have a picture of the numbers but the car itself was at ~3550!! Chunky car with the sunroof and power seats.

It’s the little things...

Next was wheels, maybe my favorite wheel on these cars is the Volk TE37. Plus light and strong!!

Southern car transplanted north. Brrr

Next up some new brakes...car slowly began shifting to track-day oriented.

New rotors and hardware.

I also installed the xtron head unit and honestly for just about $350 dollars installed it’s one of the best things I’ve done. So nice to have modern amenities in the car on road trips and I can use it for Harry’s lap timer on track days.

At its first track day at Lime Rock. It was fun but I just used MPSS and man do they get greasy quick. Managed a 1:04 with a passenger so probably near 3800 pounds! It’s really time to shave some weight off the car.

Exactly how I started out. Less then a year later, cinnamon interior is gone, no rear seats, roll bar, bucket seats

Ha! Yep, sounds about right. You’ll see in the next few posts that’s about where the car is now.

Reddish plates

The talk about the RTAB pocket tearing out of the chassis made me do this. A little extra insurance!

Solid subframe mounts, also in this picture you can see one of my favorite additions to the car - the GC rear weight jackers.

Lightweight odyssey battery installed

With how often I have to charge that battery I really love this quick connect battery charger.

The “vince” style gussets welded in to the front subframe mounts

Mason bar installed (all this subframe work done by EuroMpire near Charlotte, NC). This bar might be coming out soon in favor for a custom cage with subframe tie-ins.

Nice thread so far. Are you still in NC?
