getting more people (in the US) to put racing buckets into their street cars is probably a can of worms they don't want to open

Yes-- and unlike every fixed back seat Recaro sells in the USA, they work properly with the factory seat belts.

For example...

CSL (sides are low enough to use the seat belt receiver):

Porsche fixed backs (cut out for the seat belt receiver):

M3 GTS (cut out for the seat belt receiver):

M3 CRT (sides low enough for the seat belt receiver):

None of the aftermarket fixed back seats sold in the USA have lap belt holes large enough to pass the (rigid) factory seat belt receiver through, and the only aftermarket fixed back seat with sides low enough to use the seat belt receiver is the Cobra Nogaro.

The Recaro ABE has a seat belt receiver cut out, like the above OE fixed back buckets do-- that's why I was asking about it. But, Recaro (so far) won't sell it in the USA.

I use a belt extender to get my PP to properly work with the 3 point and pretensioners. Works nicely.

I'd also like to see pics

When I briefly ran SPG XLs, running the belt over the top of the seat meant the belt was too high to be in contact with me. I can't really imagine how an extension would help with that.

there are examples of fixed bucket seats in street cars sold by OEs that don't meet your criteria as well. either way, i think it's been established that your idea of what works properly exceeds what oe mfgs have historically considered to be the case

i personally would trade my Pole Position NG in for an ABE version in a heartbeat, but Recaro is too big (ie. sueable) to be selling the US consumer bucket seats designed for street use. the difference between a dude in europe and a dude in america convincing themselves they've outfitted their car correctly is when things go wrong the dude in europe doesn't get as litigous

Pics/examples of OE seats that don't?

My "critera" is just that the seat belt be in contact with your body-- very necessary for it to work properly.

Bonus points if the pretensioner remains functional.

Wow didn't know (as a non US resident) that you couldn't get the ABE. Would US customs reject entering them if you shipped from EU? Prob not worth to pay the extra $$ for int. shipping to get ABE's?

i have sat in CSL's and the PP ABE (the ones in the shop and in the M4 GTS) and that extra width is a bit more comfy ie little wiggle room for your butt. CSL's no wiggle at all (if i remember correctly) and i have a waist size 31-32"
