Default Squeaking from the belt/pulley area during cold start

So I've recently noticed that the car squeaks during cold start.

The noise is not a shrill (like the noise you get from a loose belt) and it not that loud. With a good crosswind you can't even hear it standing next to it. Definitely can't hear it from inside the cabin.

It seems to be coming from the driverside of the belt system.

I've fixed this before on an e46 328i and it turned out to be the idler pulley.

So I figured it must be the same for my car so I went and bought a stethoscope and tried to pin point the squeak but was unsuccessful.

I couldn't seem to hear the squeak when I placed the tip of the stethoscope on the idler pulley.

Where are some other common places that might start to squeak?

Mine makes the same sound for 2-3 seconds on a cold start. I was told that I needed new belts.

Yes, in your case, you do need a new belt.

However, mine lasts for about 5-10 minutes while the car is warming up which leads me to believe it's a worn pulley bearing. I'm just having trouble locating it.

So I was wondering, other than the idler pulley, which other pulleys usually come up as a maintenance item for squeaking.

My Tundra had an intermittent chirp when cold. Turned out it was the "Goodyear" painted label on the belt! They scuffed that off a bit, and it went away. But, it was a new truck with a new belt at the time...

Mine recently had the same problem as the OP. I replaced both belts and that seemed to do the trick.

if it's squealing it's prob the tensioner pulley. replace it before it seizes and takes your belts off during driving. that is the worst. getting stranded. it happened recently on my beater sentra. I had to get a new nut and force the damaged pulley back on and the belts to drive it home. all this was done on the side of the road cause i didn't want to pay $120 for towing. don't have AAA.

+1! I am going to replace them whenever I swap my belts.
