fwiw my balancer is the original one, still intact after 4 years of 8500 rpm limiter, hitting that almost daily

I was there for this failure. Shortly after, the clutch (friction disc split) on Scott's car failed too. Coincidence? Or perhaps caused by the imbalance of the crankshaft when the harmonic balancer was acting up? I suspected the latter. Could have been a minor manufacturing defect that was exacerbated by the increased vibrations when the balancer went kaput.

Very few failed stock balancers showing up in this thread, and people with 0-5 posts love to pipe in when it's about a failure.

I don't intend to preemptively replace mine, though I'll probably take a peak at it from time to time when the hood is open to make sure it isn't looking like the one above.

We needed to replace the front main seal. Thought about swapping in an oe balance from fcp at the same time. Took it off looked perfect. Put the original back on.

Original balancer, 94k miles. Mostly track miles during our ownership.
