Cc....did you ever do this DIY yet? Id really like to do this and add the radio functions to my zcp...I already have the steering wheel radio controls and the E39 wiper stalk. But there is bits and pieces of this DIY all over the forum. Im trying to find a clean DIY with all the information in one spot.

BTW, I also did the E39 wiper stalk. You will want to remove the steering wheel to get to the wiper stalk. I used that opportunity to do a full cleaning and "de-fuzzing" of the alcantara steering wheel at the kitchen table. After removing the track mode wire from the steering wheel connector (in order to place the wire from the ES161712 harness into positions 8, 9 & 10, per the instructions) I was able to remove the track mode wire further from the wiring loom and get enough wire to reach across the column to the wiper connector. You will see when comparing the two wiper stalks where the track mode wire needs to go in the wiper connector. Good luck! |

Hi all
I have a standard M3 with M track mode coded in. I have just bought a ZCP CSL steering wheel and I would like to use the button on the steering wheel. How could I do this please? Thanks |

The track mode button just connects X10170 pin 8 to pin 7 (ground). You need to disconnect the current wire going to pin 8 (MFL+/cruise control) and run a wire to tap into the DSC button wire. I'm reasonably certain the DSC button is also just a connect to ground to activate, but you will have to look up the correct wire to tap into. Pins 9 and 10 are I-bus related on the non-ZCP and aren't used in the ZCP steering wheel. You might disconnect these and tape them off, but it probably doesn't matter. After this mod the steering wheel button should behave like your DSC button does now.
