Default Small clunking at slow speeds, wheels off everything seems fine, any guesses?

So I've got a 2006 m3 coupe, all has been well recently, all of a sudden the other day a could hear a clunking coming from the suspension/wheels/ect all around the car at slow speeds.

I was turning from a red light, a small bump in the road caused quite the clunking to come from under the car. You could feel it in your feet in the floorboards. At first I thought it was the black plastic shield underneath, even though that seemed light for the clunk I was feeling. Alas, all including the larger metal shield were fine.

I jacked up each front and rear wheels, spun em, took em off, shook everything. I recently put in new bilstein struts, new springs, new sway bar end links. Everything seemed tight and orderly. My guesses of a misaligned spring or bad end link were not correct.

I'm pretty lost at this point. It's strange how no matter which of the 4 corners I roll over a little bump with, it produces a similar clunk. I even guessed a loose/broken steering rack and took off the metal shield to check.

I did stand on the passenger door sill and put my weight up and down on it to bounce the suspension, and that produced a clunk from the front right wheel.

Thanks for any ideas and thanks for the long read if you made it this far

Did you look carefully at your subframe and trunk?

Driveshaft.

Or your FCAB is totally destroyed. Very possible if itís aftermarket.

thanks LMTFI that was actually my first horrible thought, and I went and ripped out my trunk carpet and got underneath the car and all looked fine.

FCABs look strong, I don't remember but I don't think they had any play.

Driveshaft is a big possibility, I guess I'm just not sure what to check/look for?

Start with the rubber parts. The guibo and center bearing.

Check the front diff bolt.

It seems driveline related. So something down the middle of your vehicle is most probably making the noise.

Does it clunk when you get on and off the throttle?

when my center support bearing went out the driveshaft would hit the trans tunnel and thump-thump-thump from time to time. Ended up with a new driveshaft/csb, definitely best to do this stuff preventatively. not sure if your issue is the same though
