Default Radar Detection & Anti Laser Setups - What's in your Arsenal?

Hey Guys and Gals,

I am just curious what defense mechanisms members have employed against LIDAR whether it's a PBA card or bumper to bumper transcievers.

I have a custom installed Passport SRX & ZR4 Laser Shifters forward and aft. The Passport and mute button/kill switch is conceiled in the ashtray with an LED located on the roof of the Nav porthole.

I know some members have done some amazing custom V1 installs. Pictures are always a plus. Ill snap a couple of my setup when i get home.

Cheers!

Valentine 1 BMW installed, hardwired. My extra directional indicator is in the extra, empty compartment below the radio.

Right now I have a hardwired Valentine 1 and it's the best mod I could do to this car.

Former Valentine V1 hardwired customer. Now a Beltronics Rx75 radar detector and laser jammer.

Too many close calls, and now most of the staters (CHP's, and WSP) are using Laser only. The V1 detection was just fine for radar, but having the added control and benefit of auto-blocking the Laser is worth every penny. I could slow down to my desired speed, hit the button next to the shifter so Mr. Highway Patrol could get his reading. Otherwise, het gets an "error 3" message on his gun. The common error when your license plate is not reflective enough.

Fits nicely in the ashtray and sensors are well hidden front and rear. Added bonus is a digital voltage reading, which has come in handy troubleshooting battery issues.

The entire SRX display module actually fits snuggly in the ashtray compartment once removing the actual tray. From there everything pretty much plugs into the interface including the conceiled display I ran above the Nav.

I have this same setup, but without the led, and I have the mute button mounted by the steering wheel. Display is in the ashtray, I dremmeled the crap out of the insert. You have to cut a hole the size of the module in the back of the insert or you can't close the ashtray without pressing buttons. I haven't gotten around to installing the rear shifter yet.

Saved me from a costly ticket just a couple of days ago. It's sensitive as heck. I always pick up cops at least a couple of blocks before I see them, it even catches signals from the back as they reflect off objects in front of me. Love it.

I would like to have the V1's arrows though. The only downside to the sensitivity is that I don't know which direction to start looking when it beeps and sometimes it takes a while to spot who/what set it off. I've even considered adding a V1 just for that function.

I also have an off the shelf detector that I got as a Christmas present. I use it along with the SRX just because it has voice alerts (which the srx has if I would get off my lazy butt and install an external speaker), and it gives me a laugh when the SRX has been going off for a good 10-15 seconds and then the other one goes off as I see the cop. To be fair, I have it mounted in away that slightly impedes the vision of the unit, but it's out of the way and I tried it on the windshield before, it really didn't make that much difference.

If you look close, you can see the shifters and radar thingie in this pic. They're all mounted on the lower half behind the grill. The shifters have a very slight red tint.

Who did your install? They must not of known anything about laser jammers. There should be NOTHING in front of the jammer. You have them behind the grill, which is wasting a good 50% f their jamming capability. The ZR4 shifters are already very underpowered as is, id get them re installed.

As for my setup, I have Blinder M47 Laser jammers (front + rear), hardwired V1, Speed Cheetah C100, Veil coated headlights and a police scanner.

What he said. You just killed half the effective range of your jammers.

Go back to the installer and tell them to read the product information.
