I’ve owned a 330i ZHP for 8 years prior to owning my M3 for 3 years. I’ve really have fallen in love with the E46 and the balance of what each model has to offer.

My sedan had the handling of an M3 and the comfort for friends but still able to keep up with all my M3 friends on enthusiastic drives sans the track.

Now that I have experienced the E46 generation power of M, I have learned how great of a car it is to completely knock your socks off. It further inspires to understand the edge of driving dynamics and learn how handle the beast (the car and the mind) with fear and excitement with every red line while still being a comfortable daily soldier.

All E46s hold a special place in my heart and I hope to have the M for as long as the car gods allow while I explore many other avenues of automotive “badassness”.

I see the NSFW tag, and while owning mine 2.5 years I've finally realized what that stood for: Not Safe For Wallet.

Almost 14 years for me.

It's a love/hate relationship.

I think it's only appropriate to confess how much you've spent on it. I've had mine for 4 years and I'm probably around the $7,000 range. Another $3,000 coming up soon on parts/labor for subframe refresh/reinforcement.

Might as well spend it before the kids get it, amiright?

10 years! Nice.
I've owned 6 BMWs:

1989 325i
1999 323i (e46)
2001 M3 coupe 6 speed
2002 M3 convertible 6 speed
2004 330i ZHP sedan
2005 M3 coupe SMG

I've enjoyed them all equally as much, except for the e46 m3. Something very special about its whole package.

Had mine since 2010, it was bought as a toy/weekend/fun car and it never lets me down. The X5 daily is quiet and modern, the M3 is raw and fun and easy to work on. Although there are lots of other projects I'd like to have time and space for (like a 240Z or 2002) I can't give up the E46M.
