So ever since I got my car (2005 M3) in 2016 I've had this issue with it. If I'm at cruising speed in gear and press in the clutch long enough for the RPMs to drop down to idle, the car will die. This is only an issue if i decide to put it into neutral before I come to a stop. Driving normally, (leaving it in gear until I come to a stop or downshifting to a stop) this doesn't happen. Since this doesn't really effect my everyday driving I've just ignored it.
Does anyone know what may be the cause of this? |

Mostly an intake vacuum leak. I had that exact problem. I installed an intake and I didn’t put everything back together tightly. It was so little of a crack open but enough to cause stalls.
Also if you have an intake you want to use the mesh filter inside the OEM box to put in between the cone filter and the intake pipe before the MAF.

I actually purchased the car with a K&N intake already installed and don't have any of the OEM parts. I'll check for a vacuum leak next.

Just undo everything from the intake plenum and put it back together nice and snug. I really didn’t know where my leak was until I did that during some maintenance. Then I was pleasantly surprised when my engine stopped doing exactly what yours is doing.

You need the stock MAF screen to install in the K&N intake. That helps with this problem, but doesn't completely solve it. To solve it, get rid of the K&N and go back to a stock intake box.

As others said, the K&N intake is your problem. A stock box will fix the issue. On mine the problem also went away when I taped off the duct that pulls air from the kidney grills.

Wow I’ve never had a problem with mine once I had leaks sorted. It’s perfectly fine and the induction sound I get creates a great emotion when at WOT.
