OP ... This is by far the best journal that I've ever read on this forum thus far! Wish I was still in the bay (I'm originally from Daly City)! Thanks for all the information. I'm contemplating doing the Inspection II myself and your journal covers it all!

FEBRUARY 4, 2011: CURB RASH, BROKE 60K, M3F CALENDAR, AND NEW HEADERS

It's been a while, but the car has been so good there isn't much to report on.

Parking in SF for the new job has been a nightmare.. my first curb rash on the ARC-8's (will be fixed soon hopefully)

http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showt...post1064634517

On December 15, I broke 60k! Looking forward to at least another 60k

My car was picked for the 2011 M3F calender for the month of May! Thanks everyone who voted

And finally, ///M3AN ONE replaced my poorly coated headers for these professionally coated beauties from his group buy! I honestly can't say enough good things about these headers or Chris. He went out of his way many times to answer my questions and meet any concerns I had. Quite possibly the best seller on the forum. If you're thinking about doing headers, there really is no better option!

Too much, lol. I bought them before tischer started doing their huge sale. I bought the caliper carriers used for about $200 and I bought the rotors/pads/sensors for another $900, I think?
Honestly, if I could do it over I would probably go with the PFC rotors and call it a day. There's a reason Bimmerworld put them on their budget e46 race car.

Thank you so much for the kind words!! I live in the east bay, but I commute to Daly City during the week for school (SFSU)! I'm glad that the journal has helped you out, it definitely inspires me to keep it more up to date. Definitely do the inspection 2 yourself and let me know if you have any questions!

Nice! yeah for the price these can't be beat. I can't wait to get a tune and see what kind of power I can put down.

Newest set of headers have been installed and it feels great. This new set, that has been properly ceramic coated, feels a great deal stronger than the last. I noticed a much stronger pull from 2.5k up with these right off the bat. Not too mention the sound improved as well. I wasn't expecting any difference from the results I posted on page 9 about the other headers, but these did feel a bit better. I can't wait to get a tune to maximize the gains!

MARCH 5, 2011: OIL CHANGE, P0420 + P0430

Nothing special to post since the car has been running perfect, but I felt obligated to update the thread.

Changed the oil on the 2nd..

Had two codes pop up last night while driving home. Codes came on at the same time and were:

P0420 - Cat system efficiency below threshold (bank 1)
P0430 - Cat system efficiency below threshold (bank 2)

Cleared them today, but I'm confused on why this are popping up now.. I've ran maybe 2-3k miles on catless headers without a single code regarding the mssing cats. I'm hoping it's a fluke because I would rather not have to get a tune to turn these off because of emissions..

Mike

Post cat O2's are lazy... that's how u got the 2-3k miles. Eventually you'll end up with an error code if you don't have a tune.

I just recommend you get the shark race tune as you can flash your obdII at will with it. My D/A was a nightmare as I had to get it recoded to stock for smog, but factory headers back in. After, reinstall aftermarket headers, then ship off ecu for a reflash from D/A (free but shipping was $70).

Shark you can flash and unflash on the fly.
