Default Stamped LTW's Polished & Refinished

9 long months after purchasing a set of 4 staggered and stamped LTW's....they are finally back from the refinishers and on the car. I had a very clear vision of what I wanted; which was a stamped LTW with a combination of polished and painted finishes. Since my car is silver, I wanted to add something bright to get away from the silver car w/ silver wheel look.

Anyway, pictures are more fun so here you go:

As purchased from forum member MAC335

The lip, face, and spokes were mirror polished.

The polished area was masked off and remaining areas were sanded to prep for powder coat.

The exposed parts of wheel were then powder coated silver. That covers the BMW Motorsport lettering, center hub area, around the spokes, and the barrel. The entire wheel was then powder coated clear to seal everything.

The clear coat dulls the polished area considerably. It was disappointing at first because there isn't as much contrast as I hoped for between the silver and polished; but I've warmed up to it. In most light it looks like it is all one finish, but the reflections are concentrated to just the polished part so the wheel isn't too obnoxious. The end result looks a lot like the OEM M3 GT wheel that was polished & stamped.

On the car.

If anyone wants more info or the vendors I used I'd be glad to share. PM me here or find me on IG @ap_ike as I check in here less frequently

That looks like quite a job masking off all these area’s.

Looks nice on your car. First pics had me worried seeing ‘chromed out’ wheels.

Too much polished, doesn’t suit the wheel or the car in my opinion... but if you like it,

Like the workmanship but I am not a fan. I understand the reason for getting away from all silver which makes them get washed out from time to time.

Not a fan of the wheel so that makes me jaded.

"chrome" polish get's washed out way more than silver. The tires no longer contrast the wheels, so it just blends in.

M3 GT is the best Style 24 variant made. Stamped and diamond cut polished, then they knock the sheen down.

Thanks...appreciate the compliments. It’s definitely not a finish for all colors, in fact I’m not sure I’d do it on any color car besides silver. The silver can be so bland...kind of like wearing a demin jacket with jeans....who does that? Unless you’re going to RADwood of course.

It’s not for everyone but I’m happy with them as something unique and they add a dash of spice to the car. I agree with Braymond in that the M3 GT wheel is the best.

Honestly I think they'd look best on a dark car, like cosmos or techno, but they look great on silver for the reasons you stated. As with just about anything, I'd prefer the OEM variant, but its awesome that you decided to think outside the box and make a cool version of something thats essentially impossible to get.
