I'd let you borrow mine if you were local Mike. I'll be in Sac 10/1 if you want to wait it out.

Thanks for the offer. Not sure I will be around on that date so I picked up one from ECS.

Look forward to starting on the rear suspension once I get back from vacation. Until then more fun in my the sun.

Ohh. I forgot. After the suspension and bushing overhaul. It will be time to remove the automatic in favor of the manual. So Iíll have to start doing some research on what is needed. Sounds like I should be favoring the E46 manual transmission. Any advice is welcomed.

good luck finding one for a decent price. People are asking stupid money for the Getrag 420's lately, especially true manuals (not SMG's)

Valve Cover Gasket Questions:

1) Can I get confirmation that I am missing the front wire and the bolt is wrong?

Below is the rear with the correct wiring:

Below is the front with just a bolt and no wiring. Worth noting that the front cylinder ignition coil was replaced. So maybe the technician forgot to install that added wiring back and instead replaced with a standard valve cover bolt?

2) What does this front wire do? Would I see positive effects once I put back on?

There is only one wire in the back. Your set up looks good.

Gotcha. It looks like this is a grounding wire. Given the metal harness, that all 6 ignition coils touch, I could see only 1 wire making sense. Thanks for confirming.

There are supposed to be two ground straps, front and rear. Your suspicion was correct, Mike.

My bad, my car is a 95 and it only comes with one.

Bray is correct. For your 97, you should have two. Strange that someone would take the time to replace the nut as well.

My 95M3 had one also; however, I bought and placed a second ground strap up front.
