Default M3 trunk badges

So my badge on the trunk is super faded.

I want to put a fresh one on. OE m3 emblems i can find, but Im looking perhaps for a black chrome one, or even a carbon one.

Anyone know of a good source for these items? Like good fitment, color etc.?

Also does anyone know if the OE black chrome badging from the f80 comp package badge is the same size as ours? I know BMW makes some black chrome ones for the newer models, I just dont know if it will look natural, or be the same size on our cars.

Thanks

I know this isn't helpful to your question and purely my opinion, but the OE badge looks so good. My suggestion is replace with OE.

Agree you should stay OE. The F80 M3 black chrome badges (P/N 51148068580) are the same size though the font for the "3" is different compared to the E46 M3 badge. Also, depending on the color of your M3, a black badge may not stand out compared to a chrome badge. I installed the F80 M3 black chrome badge on my 2002 M3 and have no regrets. To each his own.

Yeah OE is definitely the safest choice, but Iam doing all black or carbon accents (all grills, diffuser, lip etc) so im think im going to give the F80 black chrome emblem a try. If it dont look good, ill get the OE colored one.

azmirm5 where did you get your badge from? How much did it run?

Cheap and easy enough to try it out. If it doesn't look good (most likely outcome) could just go back to stock.

From what I see in our local meets, teenagers who buys these cars beat up for dirt cheap put these type of cheap "mods" bcs they can't afford the mods they really want (bbk, quality coilovers, quality wheels, paint job etc). They try weird color combos (cf emblems, cf grills, blacked out this, spray painted oem wheels, color matched stickers etc) with cheap tactics to try to differentiate their cheap beat up m3's. Just an observation.

Just replace the sticker on the emblem. Freshens it up and you retain the factory emblem.

Replacing the sticker may not be such a bad option if the chrome isn't too scratched up. I have to agree with the post above, usually, but not all the time when I see a modded badge that's not OE, it often means cheap mods or not a properly cared for M3. I really mean no disrespect here, as some are tastefully done, but that is just what I notice when coming up on another M3 from time to time.

@oleg232000 Online via ECS but you should be able to get it from anyone who carries OE parts. I also have gloss black grill and front kidneys from them (non-OE).
