I just realized I never really followed-up the story here, but why not after all!!

I got the car back from cleaning, with a much nicer looking interior, with vivid colours and clean carpets. Yamaguchi-san, the guy who did the cleaning always keep the extracted water from the cleaning for his customers to see the result, and it is quite obvious:

Then I treated myself with a beautiful object:

And after that I went to my favourite mechanic in Chiba for the following:
new intake boots (it was about time)
new blinkers (new OEM, orange as on all 3.0L)
installation of an erisin Android radio to replace the crap that was here

Clean engine

Quite happy with the Erisin, a real Androit tablet in a one Din, it is quite convenient and not to bad looking. Hardware is a bit limited however so it is quite slow...
Anyway, after that I went to some Gymkhana in Tsukuba to check the car dynamics:

I had quite a lot of fun, the previous owner of my car was also on this event and he agreed to give me the original cat of the car and put it back for free so I solved that issue too.

However some other issues were highlighted through the hard driving so I quickly planned another round of mechanical rejuvenation...

Almost certainly it'll burn, and then it'll be burned.

Uppity s50b32 owners in here. My s50b32 experience (my e36 M3 track car had one) was that it's like an S54... except worse in every way.

IMO the best e36 M3 street setup is a turbo S52. s50b32 makes it feel like a worse e46, s52 stock feels a bit... slow (had one as a daily for years). Turbo S52 give the entire car a unique character, and they seem to be plenty reliable if kept reasonable.

Thanks!

Actually that was only a couple of months after I bought it, many thing happened since then...

Soon after above events, I notices my thermostat was not working properly, and with winter coming, my water would not get warm enough... Time to trigger some basic must-be-done-anyway maintenance:
- 11527505302 Fan coupling 1 pcs.
- 11511405720 Waterpump S50+S52 1 pcs.
- 11531318402 Gasket thermostat flange 64.77X2.62MM 1 pcs.
- 11531318274 Thermostat 80cel. -Wahler Germany- 1 pcs.
- 11511318287 Waterpump gasket between waterpump and engine block 1 pcs.
- 11531317588 O-RING 2 pcs.
- 11349061386 SET SPACER 1 pcs. (set for valve clearance setting)
- 11121404358 Cylinder head cover gasket S50/S52 1 pcs.
- 11121317386 Gasket arround the sparkplugs S50/S52 1 pcs.
- NGK PKR9B Spark Plugs

Along installing those, we cleaned the idling regulator and changed all the hoses around, and the air pump hoses, the aircon filter, the seal of the sunroof, the battery connectors and a few seals (oil filter) and clips here and there...

... And I went driving around!

Very nice restoration and tastefully done upgrades.

I remember climbing Mt Fuji, still have my walking stick with the elevations burned into it. I spent 2 years at Misawa Kichi. Rode my bicycle and Yamaha TZR500 around had a variety of JDM cars. Fun times.

Thanks for sharing
