What's the timeline for finalization and production, here? The greatest value IMHO of this setup is that it is a true carbon air box that utilizes ram air from behind the kidneys, but fits with a stock radiator arrangement, thereby avoiding the requirement imposed by other ram air iterations of using a shorter radiator or leaning the radiator in a custom frame.

The prototype airbox is beautiful looking, no doubt! But, I'm not sure if it is actually "better" in anyway than the airbox they BMW chose to produce.
That one looks similar to the P50b32 airbox

I think you are right Terra. It looks awfully similar to the E36 M3 GTR carbon airbox for its P50B32 engine. It just has the intake runners.

BMW most likely modeled the prototype from the P50B32, but without the inserted filter element.

If the idea is to play with trumpet lengths, that P50B32 box illustrates one way.

Thanks for the reply bubblegunz!!

Just to clarify I didn't mean to suggest that the CF molds could be make from 3D printed materials. I was trying to suggest that a 3D prototype can be quickly made and experiment with to which a CF mold can be made from. Which seems to be getting cheaper and more acessable every year. I realize molds from top manufacturers do use CNC aluminum and an autoclave.

I know I'm one of those weird ones but I wouldn't mind waiting 2 years at all. That seems very reasonable actaully. This is my project car so for me there is no rush. I just want the best products I can afford.

Until then though looking forward to your testing!

Honestly, I don't think it's worth adjusting them. Every S54 variant, whether it's the stock S54, CSL, or the race versions, all have the exact same trumpets. I'm sure if there were room for optimization there, the race variant at least would have been altered.

As a potential customer, I would be interested in replicas of BMW's trumpets. I trust their F1 team for development.

This is how many of the euro race boxes look. I'll have to dig up, and possibly re translate why the Delage boxes were created with the runners exposed (not internal in the box).

Little off topic but I would love to see if streamline could make a replica of the BMW Performance CF strut brace. Also, I sent you a pm about a friend I have who is a web designer.
