BMW of Seattle wants $1950 for an inspection II - ummm, thanks, but no thanks. They quoted me $350 for an oil change - oh and they change the microfilter at the same time!! Wow!! What a deal!!

When my inspection II rolls around, I can pretty much do all of it myself. I'll probably do it in stages - fluid changes, and then the valve adjustment. None of it seems particularly difficult. Also will probably do FCABs and RTABS at the same time.

Exactly. My dealer here in Hawaii quoted me $4600 for Inspection II. I guess that's golden oil + Hawaii tax. At any rate, I've decided to purchase everything myself and do all the easy stuff. Found an indy shop for the valve adjustment. Otherwise, oil change, filter changes etc are pretty straightforward jobs and if you have access to a lift you can do all of the inspection stuff yourself.

wow, can't believe dealers have different price on same service, just got Inspection II done last month at stealership too. They gave me 15% discount, I ended up pay $1200 something, not bad plus I have to do it for warranty purposes

Mr M Car is a great shop but also still pricey.

If you want an indy shop go to Bill at Bimmerclinic, great mechanic and awesome prices.

Or you can go to me. : )

I've done quite a # of member's cars here.
