After a couple track events M3 tends to burn a bit of oil

My s54 doesn't burn a drop. additionally, I'm very surprised to hear people saying add a half litre after 6000+ miles. I'd have changed the oil by then.

Just did my Oil change yesterday and I wasn't missing any oil.

how much oil is missing when the light turns on? whats the difference between the red light and the yellow/amber light?

red light means little to no oil pressure - VERY BAD

yellow/amber light means low oil - NOT SO BAD

FWIW BMW considers 1 litre per 7500km normal oil useage. If you're not seeing anything odd at the tailpipe I would not worry about it.
