OP is being naive. There are many other things to consider than just a pretty weave. If the filter element does not seal properly, debris can get stuck in the combustion chamber causing damage to the cylinder walls and/or cylinder head. That cheap airbox can end up costing much more than $700.

as stated previously if it is a piece of garbage I'm sure everyone will let me know.
we'll all have a good laugh (including me) because eBay protection will give my money back in the event of it being a steaming pile of fiber. not to mention it will put these eBay boxes to bed. That I'm sure many people have crossed paths with in their cf airbox search/purchasing experience.

It's not going to be a steaming pile, it's going to be rough or, if you're lucky, not too shabby.

I can very easily see it being good enough to deny a return, but still lumpy and bumpy enough to look poor, have vacuum leaks, higher silicate count from poor filtration etc...

Think positively, OP will get a port and polish as part of a package deal this way.

people on bmw forums tend to have a "if its not expensive it must be a piece of shit" mindset. I've seen that over and over whenever someone try something new and its cheaper than what they have bought.

Anyways good luck!

If its a diamond in the rough it can always be polished up. as long as the fitment is right everything else can be fixed.

I'm curious to see how this plays out. Hope it ends up being a nice unit and works out.

As much as i agree with that notion and would like to here.
It is not only A: the easy way out. And
B: in all likelyhood the probability leans that this can/potentially will fall on the shitier side of the spectrum.

As paulo stated earlier lets just wait until it gets here. Everything is speculation as of right now.
Until the products workmanship fitment and finish can be inspected at length no one has any idea how this will ACTUALLY turn out. Its also easy to just give in a call it a pos before it gets here.

If this thread is half as entertaining as the OP's other threads...I am SO in.

I hear that these eBay airboxes can be quite 'bulbous'...
