I don't have a solid feel for how much I'll be tracking going forward (new job and post kid), but last year it would have saved me ~$2000 in consumables. Most years would likely be in the $1000-2000 range.

I can ship from work for free, so the price returning things to FCP is not a factor.

Isn't the 996 kit what guys like robgill are running? Seems like the free replacements + free shipping perk makes this a no-brainer.

I guess the question is, how often do you need to replace parts and will the kit last A track day of Obioban driving (quite quick)?

The real risk here is that if FCP goes away, I'll be full of regret. Drilled rotors are just worse, less heat capacity in the rotors is worse, the weight of everything looks to be pretty much the same (so not saving weight in exchange for the heat capacity I'm giving up), smaller pads aren't going to last as long, etc.

Drilled rotors failing faster and pads wearing out faster doesn't really bother me in a world of free replacements. But, if that dries up... I'd really miss my super long lasting Brembo rotors and pads.

(that said, I should need less heat capacity than every before, as my car is now 300 lbs/10% lighter, I've added ducting, and I've actively chosen to back off/not drive as hard/leave a margin going forward)

On stock set-up, when you were also slower, didn't you go through brakes per event?

... yes.

But the car is lighter, ducted, these rotors are larger and floating, and being slower doesn't necessarily mean you're easier on brakes.

A no compromise solution would be if I could find an OE that uses brembo's 355x32mm (and/or 345x28mm) rotors that FCP stocks. TONS of cars come with brembo brakes stock these days, but none of them seem to use those rotor sizes.

Terraphantm pointed out that the IS350's OE BBK uses the exact same size rotors as me, front and rear. They use stoptech rotors, but stoptech copied brembos design to the extent that they're interchangeable-- so I could use my brembo hats with those without issue.

... so now FCP just needs to carry lexus parts
