There would have been more SMG takers for sure because it was the newest tech at the time and "better" than the manual. I'd say 75-90% SMG based on the intended audience of the car.

That statement is also true for the non CSL M3, where it only had a 50% take rate.

The regular market doesn't really represent the CSL market, different cars for different purposes at very different price points.

The review was a bit meh, I know how a manual works, but it's always fun to see a CSL. What a beautiful car.

I guess it is just surprising. When I first drove the SMG way back when, there was no way I would have speced it on a track car. I would have for sure went manual.
