I decided to buy the Pro XDR for my business. In addition it was time for a tech refresh so got the new 16 MacBook Pro, and ended up dropping my phone and breaking the screen for the third time, so hello new 11 Pro.

Since Apple was offering 6% cash back with the card on Apple purchases, the $750 or so was a reasonable incentive to get the credit card.

I really hate how "locked in" you are with the card to using your phone. Despite being a Goldman Sachs card, there is no website. Everything is done on the phone which means basic stuff like copy & paste a dollar amount takes five times as long as on a laptop.

Integration with your accounting software? Not a chance. You must enter every transaction by hand. I guess Apple forgot that small businesses exist.

Want details on your transactions? Not there - the phone interface sucks compared to any major credit card website 5 years ago.

Nope. There is also no website. Only way to access/manage is through the wallet app on your phone.

I elected to get the physical card (it's free and titanium, why not?) but it does not have a physical number on it. So if you were shopping with your laptop you cannot complete the transaction. You have to rebuild your cart on your phone to buy.

I don’t think it should be surprising that a privacy focused credit card does not link to 3rd party sites.

... but there should 100% be a Mac app.

There is nothing proprietary or new about the card from a technical/back-end perspective, it is just a Mastercard. Behind the scenes Mastercard already has web, app & integration with tons of 3rd parties for all their other cards & credit bureaus & customers. It's frustrating knowing all the infrastructure is probably in place, just not exposed or enabled/allowed by Apple.

Damn! I can’t get myself to spend $250 on them tho. The cheap stuff on amazon may have to do if I decide to go wireless.
