I think it was T25.

FYI, if your car's in original factory warranty, most likely you'll get a brand new set of mirror assemblies, *less* the mirror/glass themselves.

That's what my dealer wanted to do, and they got them all painted, ready to put on.

Then i realized, DANG, that means i'm loosing the 3M clear bra wrapped on the mirror assemblies !!!

Until i find out how much to put on just the mirrors, i've decided to just tighten the bolts and get back with the service advisor.

Can't believe i'm giving up on fresh set of OEM mirrors !!!

FYI, I do think there are two separate problems mentioned here; unfortunately mine wasn't fixable. If the painted part moves, the larger Torx should take care of it. I actually took mine apart much farther where there's another smaller set of Torx heads in there, once you get to the "breakaway assembly."

Unfortunately going even this far won't allow you to tighten just the glass - it seems the glass is probably directly connected to to motor assembly which has gone shitty and started to wiggle. Too bad I mentioned this to my dealer years ago when under warranty but didn't insist on having it fixed.

Yip, same thing happened to me with the same solution. The passenger side mirror is tight though.

Just noticed this on my driver's side mirror, i.e., the round housing seems a touch loose around the pivot point where is mounts to the mirror "post" assembly (that mounts to the door). Is this what is fixed by tightening up the Torx scews. The actual mirror (glass) itself and the part that attaches to the door are fine.

yup my 2004 has a loose drivers side mirror. The loose part is the housing that holds the mirror... This does not seem to be tightened by any screws though..

Do you have to take off the entire door panel to get to those screws or can you just pop that black triangle thingy off?

I got an 01 M3 Vert with the same issue. Both mirror assemblies are loose at the pivot points. Everything else seems fine.
