Is there a good DIY- for the heater control valve for the e46 m3 ?

I tried doing a search and I could not find one.

Refrigerant is low. When it gets low you lose the passenger side first, then the drivers side. I don't know of anything else that causes that symptom.

BTW, the key to having your AC system not fail/leak is to use it year round. Aka, including the winter. Sadly it's too late for that, if you're leaking.

^ I heard in addition to regular use, turn the AC off (but the leave the fans on) for a moment before you turn the car off. Truth to that? If nothing else it could dry the system out to prevent foul smells.

Obioban: Ditto on using it year round. Someone mentioned you in a youtube video with tips on the best ways to use the A/C system:

I've used that trick for the longest time: Just leave on auto and always keep the temp control knob neutral (white line in the middle) on the center vents. I adjust adjust the digital temp as needed (avg on 77), and the system automatically maintains the ambient temp comfortable with cool or heat. Been doing this for 9 years in my 330i zhp, and 3 years the m3 and both systems are still blowing cold; neither have needed recharge thus far, and I'm in FL.

One trick I also do is close the both passenger vents since I prefer to ride alone 99% of the time... it makes the flow of air stronger on the driver vents.

Tip: I've seen cases where if the blower motor is on it's way out, it will make a bird type chirping sound while the system is in use, and this will be audible in the cabin.

That's because of this thread I made a while back, when I realized everyone was trying to use their automatic climate control as manual climate control:
