Default The s54 power steering pump. Anyone got information about it?

Can it be rebuilt? What is the brand?

I seem to have a leak behind the pulley and I'm guessing it's the nose shaft seal

Never heard of anyone rebuilding them. But I'm sure it is possible if u can find the parts. BMW ETK doesn't list a rebuild kit, or any parts other than a complete pump. A m54 pump works on the s54. There's 2 different kinds one with a plastic tube and one with the metal tube. The metal tube one works you just have to change the brackets. I know for sure because that's the pump I am running on my M3. I didn't have a M3 pump in inventory so I found out which pump will fit the s54. The car doesn't feel or drive any different than one with the oem s54 pump. My other M3 that's still got the oem pump feels identical.
I forget the brand. But the 2 different ones on the m54 are different manufacturers. The one I described that works on the s54 is the same brand as the oem one.
BMW tech for 26+ years.
The m54 pump is a little smaller than the s54 but much more available used, if that's what you're going for. I run a BMW salvage yard so parts like that I always go with what I have in stock.

ZF is the brand.

Bosch Remanufactures them and they are available through FCPEuro (https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...zf-32412229679)... but I am not sure if that means there must be a rebuild kit available or whether Bosch produce everything in house for that...

Not many moving parts in those pumps. Inner and outer rotor and seal. Make sure you get the correct pump they changed in late 2001. I know I couldn't find any rebuild kit when I looked.

Interested as well. I think my pump is on the way out so it may be time for a replacement.

But what I see daily are typical German car colors; blacks, silvers, grays and whites. They look nice, I agree, but to me the appeal is what the M cars were in the 1980s an event. Its not so much that I want to be noticed, but more that I want to stand apart from the crowd. And to me, Phoenix Yellow and Laguna Seca Blue are two of the best ways to differentiate your M3 experience from the norm.

Thanks fellas,

Part number 32411135880 is a zf rebuild kit for the older pumps. I wonder if it would fit our pumps.

Sometimes BMW don't list things for our cars and were used in the older models such as the diff crush washer and BMW carrier shims for the backlash. They were all only listed for the older BMW but same items in our cars.

Those old pumps were for the E36. The pumps are completely different.

Ah I see. Damn. Anyone got any pics of a disassembled pump? Measurements of the shaft seal? Could maybe get a replacement seal locally if it's a standard size
